I’m Venessa, your humble host. OK, maybe not so humble.
The stories you read here are about my small family in Seattle–I have an amazing husband, two hilarious step-sons and one hold on to your seat daughter.
We keep a small flock of chickens who like to go on strike, one 20 some odd year old goldfish and a cat who was born on Shakespeare’s birthday.
Oh, and we keep bees. No big deal. I’ve only been stung once and it didn’t hurt that bad, I promise.
We are all Pacific Northwest Natives, and it probably shows.
I was trained as an artist first, and a pasty chef second. Food is definitely big time for me, but I also have a lot of other loves as well. Most of them are collecting dust…but sometimes I pull out all the stops and you know, air the linens and stuff like that. Just for good measure.
In our home we keep kosher, so many of the recipes you’ll see here reflect that but it’s subtle. I don’t make a big deal about it because it’s just a small part of our lives.
I shoot with a Nikon D90, and I have a lot to learn. As a wise man once said, “I think I’m getting good but I can handle criticism.” So tell me if you see something you love. You can tell me if you see something you don’t love too, but please say it nicely or I’ll tell your mother.
When I’m not writing here or busy in the kitchen or garden, I am tying to keep up with the above mentioned toddler and helping with various school projects for the above mentioned pair of 8 year olds.
The writing, recipes and photographs here are all mine, unless noted otherwise.
Thanks for reading–Cheers!
